Turkey Day '03

This year for Thanksgiving I decided to make a Turducken (Chicken inside a Duck inside a Turkey) and it came out fantastic. I used a 22# turkey, 6# duck, and a 4# chicken. I've included some pictures of the preparation, but we forgot to take pictures after awhile. Basically you debone the chicken and duck completely cutting off the last two knuckles of the wings. The legs are taken out from the inside. For the turkey you leave the last two joints of the wings in place along with the last legbone. You'll notice in img2033 that there's only one leg on the Turkey. You'll have to ask Neil how that happened... I boiled the three carcasses to make a nice cornbread stuffing to use as filler. You lay the deboned turkey out, season, add stuffing, duck, seasoning, stuffing, chicken, seasoning, stuffing, and sew the whole sloppy mess up with cotton thread and a big needle. It cooked for 13 hours at 190 degrees. At least that was the theory. Towards the end I noticed the oven was off and had to crank it to 350 degrees for the last two hours not knowing how long it had been shut off. It came out marvelous. Everyone raved. The only Bad Thing(tm) was that there was so much left over. Great munching for days. I highly recommend it.
